The partial outfitted for you by Dr. Steven Ross is custom designed to fit securely in your mouth to restore the function of multiple missing teeth. While the custom fit is meant to hold the partial in place many people like using denture adhesive to provide additional security and help to block out food particles.
If a few stray food particles do happen to work their way between the base of your partial and the surface of your gums it can cause irritation. You can remedy this by removing your partial and giving it a thorough rinse to remove the food particles and any residual denture adhesive. Then you can use a paper towel to dry the partial to give you a smooth clean surface to reapply new denture adhesive.
Before buying a particular brand of denture adhesive, you should always look for the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. This seal represents that the ADA has subjected the product to rigorous testing and research to prove its safety and effectiveness.
If you’ve recently been fitted for a set of dentures or a partial and you have questions about the best way to secure them, or keep them clean, please feel free to call Dr. Steven Ross to schedule an appointment.
