You probably know that being afraid of the dentist is quite common. Similarly, you probably know that not visiting your dentist can lead to a number of problems—both in your mouth and with your overall health. Fortunately, there are a few things you can try to help with dental phobia.
Sadly, if you struggle from dental phobia, you may be terrified of visiting the dentist. In fact, some individuals who suffer from dental phobia suffer from symptoms such as sleep loss, extreme anxiety, or even nightmares about trips to their dentist. Even worse, some individuals may even have anxiety attacks because of their dental phobia.
As you may have guessed, individuals who suffer from dental phobia could be at risk for tooth decay, gum disease, and even tooth loss. While these issues are serious in and of themselves, did you know that avoiding your dentist can actually lead to a number of issues with your overall health? You see, if you have gum disease, bad bacteria could enter your bloodstream. From there, it can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, and even issues with your lungs.
