Dental treatments like teeth extraction and oral surgery are taxing on the patient. Oral surgery includes things like having wisdom teeth or other impacted teeth removed. Impacted teeth are teeth that cannot break through the gums because there is not enough room in the mouth. Because they cares about your quick recovery, Dr. Steven Ross provides post op instructions in Salinas, California.

During the first 24 hours, bleeding may occur. Place a moist piece of gauze over the extraction site and bite down firmly. Apply pressure constantly for about 45 minutes. Continue applying gauze if the bleeding continues. Do not rinse or spit vigorously or drink through a straw for the first 24 hours. These may cause dry socket to develop. Apply ice to the face to control swelling. Take pain medication as prescribed by our dentist. Eat soft foods like applesauce, yogurt, and soup for a few days. Continue brushing your teeth after surgery, but avoid the surgery site to avoid infection. Relax for at least 24 hours after surgery. Limit your activity for the next couple of days. When you lie down, prop your head up with pillows, as lying flat can prolong bleeding.
